1‑on‑1 Chat: Weeks 3-4 (covers Weeks 1–2)#

What this is (15 min):
A short, relaxed check‑in with your legend to see how you’re settling in, what you’ve learned so far, and how your team is going. It’s about helping you make progress.

What this isn’t:

  • Not a test or grading discussion

  • Not conflict mediation

  • Not counselling

It’s normal to feel…
A bit overwhelmed, unsure, or like “everyone else gets it.” You’re not behind—this is a common Week‑3 feeling.

Structure (how we’ll use the 15 minutes)#

  • 0–5 min: General check‑in. How are you going? Any early wins or sticking points?

  • 5–10 min: Course concepts. Key ideas from the first two studios.

  • 10–15 min: Team & next steps. How your team is working; agree one small goal.

How to prepare#

No preparation or study needed. Bring something to take notes. Skim the prompts below and think of one example for each—real situations beat theory.

Topics to Think About (Weeks 1–2)#

  1. Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset

    • Where did you place yourself on the mindset spectrum?

    • When did you catch a fixed‑mindset reaction (e.g., tough bug, group task), and how might you reframe it next time?

  2. Team Dynamics & Awareness Circle / TimeGuessr

    • What different working styles did you notice?

    • How did your team make decisions when opinions differed?

  3. Team Values & Contract

    • Which actionable values did your team choose, and why did you back them?

    • If someone isn’t pulling their weight, what does your contract say to do first?

Action plan#

Leave with one clear, small goal for the next fortnight (e.g., speak up once per meeting; read the next studio before class).
