1‑on‑1 Chat: Week 7-8 (Covering Weeks 5 & 6)#

Halfway There!
Can you believe it is already Week 7? By now, you should be getting into a solid rhythm with your team. This interview is all about reflection and project management. We are going to talk about how you learn from your experiences, and how your team is managing its workload using GitHub Projects.

It’s normal to feel…
Like things are messier than earlier in the semester, or that teamwork and planning are harder now. This is a common halfway‑point experience.

Structure (how we’ll use the 15 minutes)#

  • 0–5 Minutes: Check-In. A quick catch-up on how your semester is going.

  • 5–10 Minutes: Reflective Practice. Chatting about Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle and how you are applying it.

  • 10–15 Minutes: Managing the Project. Looking at your team’s task management (Kanban boards) and data analysis.

How to prepare#

  • Think of one specific challenge or mistake from the last few weeks.

  • Take a quick look at your team’s GitHub Projects board so you know what’s in progress

Topics to Think About (Weeks 5–6)#

  1. Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle

    • Why is reflection important in software projects?

    • Think of one situation you reflected on recently.

    • What is one action you plan to take next time something similar happens?

  2. Organising Markdown and Data

    • Did your team identify key themes from interview data?

    • How are these themes and artefacts organised in your repository?

  3. Small‑Team Project Management (Kanban)

    • How is your team using the GitHub Projects board day‑to‑day?

    • Are tasks moving from TodoIn ProgressDone?

    • Where do things tend to get stuck?

Action plan#

Leave with one clear improvement you can make to your own contribution over the next fortnight
(e.g. taking ownership of a task, updating the board more regularly, writing clearer action items).
